It encompasses two primary components: interactive metaphor quizzes and a digital version of the Metaphor Map of English, which collectively serve as valuable educational resources. This application can be effectively utilized in conjunction with the Metaphor in the Curriculum website, which provides additional teaching materials tailored for secondary education and facilitates online access to the app's features.

The metaphor quizzes aim to cultivate users' abilities to recognize and comprehend the cognitive associations that underpin metaphorical language. Participants are prompted to pinpoint the original domain from which a metaphorical term derives, as well as the target domain to which the meaning has been transferred. For instance, in the phrase 'a bright child,' the adjective 'bright' transitions from its literal domain of luminosity to the more abstract realm of intelligence.

Complementing this feature is the Metaphor Map of English, which illustrates the intricate metaphorical connections identified across various semantic domains. Users can navigate these links through three distinct tools: browsing, searching, or utilizing the Metaphor Map visualisation. This diverse range of presentation options—tables, metaphor cards, visual links, or timelines—enhances user engagement. Spanning over 1300 years, from the Anglo-Saxon era to contemporary times, this map allows for an insightful exploration of evolving metaphorical thought and expression throughout the history of the English language.
